Call it nepotism if you want (it is). Our May Scout of the Month is none other than our very own Scout. Snack Acquisition Manager, Good Boy and the official muse at Scout’s Honour.

Tell us about your dog! What’s their name, breed, age, and one fun fact about them?
Scout is an 8 year old blue roan cocker spaniel who still thinks he’s a puppy. He’s obsessed with tennis balls and can’t resist a good snooze in a sunny spot.
Scout has quite the travel resume - he’s been to London and back to Australia with us! We’re currently counting down the days until he joins us in July. The house just doesn’t feel the same without him.
We can’t wait to show him around the new neighbourhood, especially the beach, which is only a 15 minute drive away. Scout absolutely loves a good paddle.
Scout is the inspiration behind Scout’s Honour! He’s the OG Scout and the muse behind many of our patches.

What’s their personality like? Are they playful, mischievous, adventurous, or a total cuddle bug?
Scout is a certified cuddle bug. It’s entirely my fault - I forever had him on my lap as a puppy, and now, eight years and many extra kilos later, he still thinks he fits there. And of course, I let him!
He’s also incredibly playful. Fetch and tug-of-war are his absolute favourites, and he’s got endless enthusiasm for both.
Which are your dog’s top badges from Scout’s Honour, and why do you love them?
- Oversized Lap Dog: In his mind, he’s still that tiny puppy who fit perfectly in my lap.
- Fetch Fanatic: Once the tennis ball is in play, nothing else matters. He goes into a laser focus mode and will play until he drops. We actually have to hide the ball when we get home, or he’ll forget to eat and sleep.
- Bed Hog: Scout is a crate-training dropout who doesn’t really subscribe to the concept of 'dog beds.' By morning, he’s usually snuck into ours. During the day, he rotates between claiming our pillows (much to my mild horror) and turning the freshly made bed into his personal nest.
- Velcro Dog: We’re attached at the hip. Any move I make around the house or office, we do it together!

Is there a specific moment or story where your dog really earned one of their badges?
Our 'Enjoy the Squeak, Destroy the Squeak' badge was made for Scout. As a puppy, he went through a phase where every soft toy was a target and had a lifespan of 30 minutes - tops!
He’s mostly grown out of it, but if a toy gets the slightest tear, it’s game over. Scout gets a taste for the stuffing, and we’re left picking up fluff for days.
What does a typical day look like for your dog?
Scout starts his day with a leisurely sleep in while the rest of us scramble to get ready. Once we’re out the door, he comes along for the school drop off and a quick cafe stop.
Then it’s off to the park for a run around before breakfast. During the day, he’s usually snoozing at my feet while I work. In the afternoon, it’s time for school pick up and another round of fetch at the park.
Once we’re home, he’s in full shadow mode, following our four year old around and sweeping up any dropped snacks. Finally, it’s couch time (his favourite) where he insists on being right on top of me for cuddles until bedtime.

If your dog could plan the perfect day, what would it include?
Scout’s dream day would revolve entirely around fetch. We’d head straight to the beach for a game of fetch in the water.
Lunch would be stolen fish and chips, followed by a sun soaked nap. In the evening, he’d be curled up on the couch for unlimited cuddles.
Do they have any funny routines, habits, or must-haves throughout the day?
Scout cannot stand when we’re eating dinner at the table. He knows that after dinner, it’s officially ‘couch time’ and he’s desperate to claim his cuddle spot (my lap). He’ll pace around, huffing and whining.
And the second we sit down, he’s on my lap and asleep in seconds.
If you could create a custom badge just for your dog, what would it say?
Scout is the muse behind so many of our badges. There’s a few new designs in the works that suit him perfectly too.
