Meet our Scouts of the Month, Ziggy and Yoshi! Ziggy, the sea-loving black lab with the world’s longest tongue, and Yoshi, the grumpy-eyebrowed schnauzer who lives for snacks, are senior pups with big personalities.
Tell us about your dog! What’s their name, breed, age, and one fun fact about them?
Ziggy the black lab and Yoshi the Miniature Schnauzer. They are both seniors, Yoshi has an incredible ability to look grumpy even at his happiest with those eyebrows!! Ziggy, we like to say holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the LONGEST tongue.
What’s their personality like? Are they playful, mischievous, adventurous, or a total cuddle bug?
Both dogs are very much in their happy place in the great outdoors, off lead charging around in a field, trail or digging holes at the beach. Ziggy is a complete sea dog, he loves swimming and fetching in the water. Yoshi prefers all 4 paws firmly on solid land.
Which are your dog’s top three badges from Scout’s Honour, and why do you love them?
Ziggy: Doggy paddle Pro: As I mentioned, Ziggy is a real sea dog, he loves nothing more than being in the water - he could outswim me any day!
Ziggy: National Treasure: This is self explanatory but he really is THE national treasure, as a senior boy with a grey chin, he is, dare i say it, the perfect dog. Everyone who meets him, loves him. Especially when he is carrying his 'baby' (an Andrex dog) around with him wherever he goes. The oohs and the ahhs, he has everyone falling at his paws!
Ziggy: Oversized Lap dog: As much as Ziggy is a adventure and water boy, he is also a complete cuddle bug. He loves being up on the sofa as close to you as possible. And being the National Treasure that he is, he more than gets away with it!
Yoshi: Fur Baby: Honestly, all dogs are fur babies in my opinion, but Yoshi is the definition of one, despite being a senior boy he is still very much a baby at heart.
Yoshi: Will Sit for Snacks: Again probably a patch for all dogs but if you want Yoshi to sit and pose, payment (treats) are going to have to be involved. lol!
Is there a specific moment or story where your dog really earned one of their badges?
Ziggy: National treasure. The puppies and the poos are ALWAYS guaranteed the oohs and the ahhs from the general public. But no one captures the nations heart like Ziggy when he is carrying his Andrex labrador around with him!
If your dog could plan the perfect day, what would it include? (Maybe treats, belly rubs, or a favourite park visit?)
We recently took the dogs on a doggy holiday to Salcombe (where these pics were taken) and I think they both lived their dream lives, staying on a farm with free roaming around and keeping their eyes on some very strange looking dogs (farm animals) walks down to the beach and even sharing a cheeky bbq sausage at dinner time.
If you could create a custom badge just for your dog, what would it say?
Ziggy: Senior Sweetheart
