Scout camp blankets have a long and cherished history, serving as both a source of warmth and a personal record of a scout’s journey. Decorated with merit badges, these blankets symbolise a scout’s achievements and adventures.

The tradition dates back to the early 20th century when scouts began collecting badges and patches from their outdoor expeditions, service projects, and skill-building activities. Over time, these blankets became more than just a practical camping essential - they transformed into heirlooms, passed down through generations, each badge telling the story of a scout’s growth and dedication.
What better way to honour the spirit of scouting - and celebrate our pets, then by creating a special camp blanket ESPECIALLY for our furry friends!?
A camp blanket for your pet is the perfect way to showcase their hard earned Scout's Honour merit badges.

How to Make a Camp Blanket for Your Pet
If you’re using a thick wool blanket like we did, we recommend stitching the patches on rather than using the iron-on adhesive. This ensures they stay secure - especially if your pet, like Scout, loves to paw, chew, and snuggle up with their blanket. A little extra reinforcement goes a long way!

It's also a wonderful way to mend a torn blanket, you can read all about our 'make do and mend' mission here.
So grab your favourite patches, needle and thread, and create a camp blanket that tells the story of your pet.
